Lafarge pledges to unveil more solutions to Nigeria
Owing to the critical importance of the Nigerian market, Lafarge, world’s leader in cement, aggregates and concretes, has pledged to introduce more solutions to the country’s cement market to help build better cities and make more housing affordable to citizens.
In an interview with select journalists in Paris, France, Guillaume Roux, group CEO, Lafarge Africa, said “the cement leader does not just see itself as a cement producer but as a solutions provider,” pledging that there were many more solutions the company would unveil to the Nigerian cement market in the future.
He, however, said that the firm had high values, as well as high regard for Nigerian consumers and would continue to provide these solutions to them according to their specific needs.
In order to face the demand of the growing peri-urban and rural population, for instance, Lafarge launched DuraBric, a new cement binder specially formulated for use in soil-stabilised blocks. This is widely seen in Malawi as a perfect solution for affordable and environmentally-friendly housing in cities and rural zones.
Lafarge also has another solution known as Ductal, which is used in the United States of America to renovate bridges, and was also instrumental in the building of Louis Vuitton Foundation building in Paris, France.
The cement maker also has OneCem low density cement product for the oil and gas sector, which is now in many European countries, and is expected to hit the Nigerian market within the shortest possible time, Real Sector Watch has gathered.
These types of specific solutions are what Lafarge believes are good for every country, including Nigeria, says the company.
“What we want is to understand and proffer solutions,” Gilles Rochard, prospective research and development director, Lafarge Group, said.
