MAN Resource Centre leads campaign on made-in-Nigeria products

As part of its core responsibility of enhancing the growth of Nigeria’s manufacturing sector, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Resource Centre is leading a campaign for the patronage of made-in-Nigeria products.

In line with this, the centre, also known as Manufacturers Resource Centre, located at the first floor of MAN House at Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos, embarked on factory visits recently, with a view to re-positioning manufacturing businesses and promoting indigenous products manufactured in Nigeria.

The Resource Centre paid a visit to Fairwell Enterprises Nigeria Limited, with a target of initiating an effective marketing strategy and showcasing the company’s product, known as ‘Dry Ice’, a product with a broad range of applications.

According to Doris Onwugamba, managing director, MAN Resource Centre, Dry Ice, sometimes referred to as ‘cardice’, is the solid form of carbon dioxide, stressing that it is used primarily as a cooling agent.

“Dry ice is commonly used to package items that need to remain cold or frozen. In medicine it is used to freeze warts to make removal easier,” Onwugamba explained, while describing the importance of the product.

“In the construction industry it is used to loosen floor tiles by shrinking and cracking them and to freeze water in valveless pipes to allow repair. Dry Ice can also be used for making ice cream as well as in theatre productions in order to create the effect of dense fog,” she said.

The Centre paid another visit to Crown Natures Nig eria Limited, a pioneer indigenous manufacturer of various kinds of branded and unbranded headwear, such as baseball caps, polo caps, bucket hats, sun visors and other textile accessories and related items.

During the visit, the Resource Centre provided solutions on production process evaluation, aimed at  optimising and re-engineering Crown Natures Nigeria Plc’s shop floor and production line.

There was also a negotiation on how the Resource Centre could help the company in funds sourcing for business expansion.

“We were also able to help in the areas of organisation, and planning of her 10-year anniversary Programme and in the recruitment exercise of over 200 persons,” Onwugamba said.

“We equally have Human Resource for Vocational Training and Apprenticeship, which is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative pioneered by the Manufacturers Resource Centre in collaboration with Crown Natures Nigeria plc,” she further said.

She implored all manufacturers to take full advantage of the centre’s quarterly business development exercises with emphasis for Q2 on production process management.

“At the moment we are also receiving product pictures of all locally manufactured products to showcase on our online mall, and we are working with leading stores and super marts on how to get original and standard products to our teeming populace,” the MD of the Resource Centre said, while directing further enquiries to   mrc@ manufacturersresourcecentre. com or www. manufacturersresourcecentre. com.
