NACCIMA advised to become more active in implementation of government policies
The National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has been advised to support and become more active in the implementation of government policies aimed at diversifying the economy.
The Enugu state governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who made the call while declaring open NACCIMA, 4th quarterly council meeting held in Enugu recently said it was In view of the current economic difficulties occasioned by the negative development in the oil sector
“It is expected that NACCIMA and all its afflicts and partners should through their investment be able to present viable and sustainable alternative to oil as the main income earner of the country”. He added.
Ugwuanyi, represented at the occasion by his deputy Cecelia Ezeilo described NACCIMA as an effective and efficient organ through which the Nigerian business class influences government on a wide range of issues affecting commerce and industry.
The governor noted that his administration was committed to sustaining and strengthening the fruitful partnership and relationship it is currently sharing with NACCIMA both directly and through its state branches like ECCIMA.
“We have also continued to invest heavenly on security and infrastructure development, environmental protection and improvement and indeed in all the areas that promotes and sustain a good environment for business to thrive in the state,” he said.
Earlier, the National president of NACCIMA) Bassey E Edem appealed to governments at all levels to encourage private sector by providing the enabling environment through business friendly policies and development of efficient infrastructure.
The president emphasized that creating enabling business policies was the only way to encourage private sector development for sustainability and job creation.
He said that NACCIMA had over the years championed the advocacy of good governance, strong and efficient public service and institutions to ensure effective service delivery and sustainable level of development within the polity.
He commended the Enugu state governor and the government for various achievements within his shortest time in office particularly in the area of security which he described pivot to investment.
In an address the President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Ifeanyi Okoye commended NACCIMA for the opportunity given to ECCIMA to host the 4th quarterly council meeting.
He said that Enugu Chamber would continue to consolidate on her advocacy campaign and engagement with the public sector in order to improve the Enugu Business Environment through their advocacy flag ship platform, the Enugu coalition of Business and Professional Associations.
The president said that the Chamber is presently working to produce the Enugu Business agenda that would highlight important issues in the business environment that needs to be addressed to foster a friendlier environment.
