SKG Pharma leads the pack

Although SKG Pharma may not have got all the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s certifications needed for global competitiveness, it has proved resilience and leadership in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industry.

The drug maker has been in the industry for over 52 years and now boasts of manufacturing facilities such as double-jacketed tanks,  automated filling and capping lines, automated bottle washing and drying lines as well as cream-making and filling machine. There are also granulators, driers, manesty compression machines, strip packing machines and multi-feeder automated blister packing machine.

“From our purpose–built plant we manufacture over 80 percent of our sales volume locally. These include Liquid Syrups, Homogenous Suspensions, Solid Tablets, Creams and Powders. We have a dedicated plat for external preparations for hygiene and dermal care,” says the company, managed by Okey Akpa, who is also the chairman, the Pharmaceutical Group of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

The firm also says it has the capability to manufacture liquid and solid dosage forms in its external preparations plant, while its operations adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and ISO 9000 standards.

Specifically, SKG Pharma produces antibiotics such as Primpex, Metrotab and Clavatin, among others; anti malarial drugs such as Novaxine, Novalor and Metaprim.
