LG Electronics donates newly introduced air conditioner to UNILAG
LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics recently donated some units of its latest air conditioner with a dual inverter compressor which saves over 75 percent energy to the University of Lagos.
The new product which was delivered to the university during the Korean Embassy lecture at the Ade Ajayi Auditorium of the campus is designed for the Nigerian market and meets the demands of customers who want to use air conditioners with a current as low as 0.74KVA.
In his welcome address, Rahmon Bello, Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, acknowledged the tremendous support the University has received from LG Electronics, a Korean company in terms of donations which he said is a clear indication that the company is interested in the development of the university and the educational growth of the country at large.
Some of the donations he mentioned include the CAC academy, Engineering lab and award of scholarships to deserving students of the University over the years among others.
While delivering his lecture titled: “Korea Nigeria Relations: Korea’s Economic Development and Cultural Enrichment”, Noh Kyu-duk, the Korean Ambassador, reminded the audience of the longstanding bilateral trade relation that had existed between the Korea and Nigeria since February 1980.
Kyu-duk highlighted various support programmes Korea has offered Nigeria and lessons Nigeria could draw from the success of Korea. He also shared areas of common interest between the two countries and how to better foster the ties between them.
Speaking at the event, Cholyong Park, general manager, Air Conditioning and Energy Solutions, LG Electronics West Africa operations, said the unique thing which sets this air conditioner apart from rest is that it’s a highly durable product which comes with a 10-year warranty on the compressor. This he said should also boost consumers’ confidence in the product.
Park said, “The conventional air conditioner goes off after attaining certain degree of temperature and restarts again but for the dual cool AC, it is a different thing entirely, due to the inverter rotary compressor which only slows down the speed after attaining certain degree of temperature and go faster again, thereby ensuring the constant use of motor at varying speed”
According to Park, other features of this new product include its fast cooling system which is usually 40percent faster due to the inbuilt 25percent larger than normal skew fan that expels powerful blasts of air with an optimal designed larger outlet that fills the spaces with cooler air.
He said further: ‘‘The AC starting minimum current is 0.7KVA which is the first of its kind. Interestingly, it is specifically designed to save up to 70percent energy due to the varying speed of the rotary compressor.’’
Rajesh Agnihotri, head of corporate marketing, LG electronics West Africa reiterated the company’s commitment towards coming up with products that will continue to meet the needs and aspirations of its ever growing consumers.
‘‘The utmost satisfaction of our teeming consumers with state of the art innovative technological designs is of great interest to us. For us in LG this is just the beginning of more good things to come,” Agnihotri.
With the latest dual cool inverter air conditioner, LG Electronics has once again demonstrated its full commitment to offering Nigerians high tech innovative products.
