Power oil, Kaduna state collaborate on medical outreach
Power Oil, from the stables of Raffles Oil LFTZ Enterprise has taken another commendable step towards ensuring that the health needs of Nigerians are adequately taken care of through its partnership with Kaduna State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to provide free basic medical health check-up for indigenes.
The partnership which was officially flagged off by Mallam Nasir El- Rufa’i, the state governor and his wife at Arewa house in Kaduna during the 2nd Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment Summit, was themed: “Enabling access and participation linking women to resources.”
Commenting on the partnership, Amisha Chawla, brand manager, Power Oil said the collaboration is very important to the brand adding that the long term plan is to reach out to people across the country promoting a good eating habit and ultimately healthy lifestyle amongst Nigerians.
Hafsat Mohammed-Baba, Commissioner, Kaduna state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, stated that a healthy and empowered woman is the key to a prosperous future in the state and the society at large.
‘‘This is why it is important working together towards the pursuance of the agenda of gender and social inclusion policy to protect women and girl child in the state with the support of the Kaduna state governor.’’
Commending private institutions that are supporting the efforts of the ministry and Kaduna state towards ensuring a healthier state especially for the women, the commissioner said the partnership is a good thing.
Mohammed said, ‘‘We see this as an excellent partnership with the Power Oil team and we hope that it will be sustainable enough to comb through the rural areas so they also can get properly enlightened about living a healthy lifestyle.’’
Omotayo Azeez, public relations manager, Power Oil, said, ‘‘the medical teams will be moving around from place to place presenting the opportunity for free BMI and blood pressure check, HIV and Malaria test, heart health talks and there will be product giveaway.’’
Continuing, Azeez said, ‘‘the team will be moving from one Local Government to another in the state with another team of medical experts being deployed by the Kaduna State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to conduct HIV and Malaria test.
‘‘The commissioner will join the team occasionally for easy mobilisation and to encourage the women to take advantage of the opportunity of free medical health check for early detection and guard against avoidable hazards of hypertension and other heart related complications.’’
Power Oil health camp project is a daily and on-going exercise that offers free basic medical health check-ups to communities in the area of Body Mass Index check, blood pressure and free medical consultation. The health camp is also into partnership with Ogun State Ministry of Health, Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Edo Women for Agriculture.
With their presence in 13 locations across the country, the brand has various heart health supporting initiatives which inspire consumers to take good care of their health such as the annual Power Oil Walk-Heart -On and Pay with Calories.
