Power oil partners Ogun on health outreach
In recognition of the efforts and achievements of Power oil health project, Ogun state ministry of health has partnered with the brand to meet the health needs of people within the state.
This was disclosed during the Power oil health project at Ori-Omi ground, Oke Sokori, Abeokuta recently where government officials from the state ministry of health, Abeokuta North Local Council, Power oil officials and indigenes of the area assembled to witness the medical check being declared open by Nafiu Aigoro, the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Health.
Speaking at the event, Omotayo Azeez, public relations manager, Power oil, said the outreach programme has been going on consistently for more than three years.
She said, ‘‘We are happy about the achievements made so far and with the support we have received from Ogun State ministry of health, we are confident of a deeper outreach result in the state.’’
To achieve extensive reach and cover more states across the nation Azeez said, ‘‘the brand has also partnered with other state ministries in the country, to which formal announcements will be made in due course’’ Nafiu Aigoro, permanent secretary, Ogun State ministry of health, who officially declared the activity open by being the first to have his blood pressure, checked expressed excitement about the partnership.
“We are confident that a lot of our people stand the chance to benefit a great deal from this scheme. We recognize the Power oil health camp project as a laudable programme and that is the main reason we decided to partner with them,’’Aigoro said.
Qudus Yusuf, director, public health, Ogun State ministry of health, said they have been planning a similar medical outreach but plans are still in the pipeline owing to the present economic meltdown.
‘‘The collaboration came at the appropriate time and syncs seamlessly into the State’s visionary plan. We must also commend the Power Oil team, for being so wonderful in taking up all the requests, even at this recessive period.
“Our goal is to cover all the 236 wards around the state. Since it is a huge project, 20 Local Government Areas have been earmarked for immediate implementation with the support of the Power oil health camp team, which is a good way to begin,” Yusuf stated.
Sidikatu Kazeem, an octogenarian and beneficiary of the programme, said: “I thank the initiator of the project and the state government for the opportunity of free medical check-up. It has now become clearer what lifestyles to adopt and what habits to shun in order to ensure a sound heart health.”
Power oil health camp exercise, a corporate social responsibility initiative from the staples of Raffles Oil LFTZ Enterprise, is a daily and on-going activity which kicked off in 2013 and has recently expanded to 13 locations pan Nigeria.
The team recently visited Moniya Community in Ibadan, Mariri Community, Kumbotso in Kano State and Tunge-Maje Community in Gwagwalada, Abuja, Iyana Ipaja NYSC Orientation Camp Lagos, Autonomous Community Imo State and Obosi Community, Anambra State.
The brand also has other various heart health supporting initiatives which inspire consumers to take good care of their health such as the annual Power Oil Walk-Heart -on and Pay with calories which held its third annual edition recently in three locations.
