Why AAAN initiated Unity Campaign for Nigerians
Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria, AAAN has added its force behind other moves to arrest the further disintegration of Nigeria into tribal and religious lines.
Nigeria has of recent deeply fallen in to sectional lines. This was capped recently when players in Super Eagles, a team that has through its spectacular performances bonded Nigerians, were classified and grouped by tribes, an unfortunate development that has not been witnessed before in Nigerian psyche.
To arrest this dangerous trend which is eating deep in to Nigeria social fabric with its consequences, AAAN came up with the Unity Campaign to strengthen political tolerance, national reconciliation, unity and social cohesion in Nigeria.
“We are aware of the discord and suspicion along ethnic and religious lines. We believe a transformed political and economic system in Nigeria requires the full participation and commitment of citizens that put the principles of trust, relationship building, love for one another and unity, first and above everything else”, President of AAAN, Kayode Oluwasona said while unveiling the campaign in Lagos recently.
The campaign message underscores the commonality of attitudes of Nigerians which does not show where a particular Nigerian comes from.
“The campaign ethos is based on the rationale that national co-existence and development can only be achieved through unity. The campaign reinforces and writes a new philosophy in the hearts of Nigerians that in spite of our differences, we are truly better together with no limit to what we can achieve when we lay aside our differences and reach out to one another”, Oluwasona further said.
