Airtel bags Most Innovative Business Idea award
Airtel Nigeria, one of the leading telecommunications services provider in Nigeria, has been awarded the ‘Most Innovative Business Idea’ Award for its Recharge & Hit-a-Million Promo by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
In a statement made available to BusinessDay, the award was presented to Wole Abu, regional operations director, North, who represented Segun Ogunsanya, the managing director and chief executive officer of the company, at a well-attended ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotels Abuja Chamber.
Ogunsanya dedicated the latest addition to the company’s shelf laurels to the loyal customers on the Telco’s network, noting that their patronage, loyalty and commitment continue to spur the company towards rolling out value-adding innovative offerings.
He said: “We will continue to create robust products and services that meet the needs of our customers and keep them close and connected to their loved ones. The Airtel brand has always been known for value, commitment to the needs of customers and passion for quality service delivery. The award serves as an impetus for us to continue in our stride towards rewarding our customer’s loyalty as we seek avenues to consistently excite them with our array of innovative telecommunications solutions.”
The Recharge & Hit-a-Million promo was one of the ways Airtel Nigeria showed appreciation to its customers last year. Targeted at both prepaid and post-paid customers, the point-based promo launched on June 18, 2015 and lasted for 60 days. Customers were required to accumulate points by carrying out activities such as airtime recharge, voice call, browsing, SMS, etc. in order to increase their chances of winning.
The promo produced 60 millionaires while many other customers won cash prizes ranging from N1m, N100,000 and N5,000 as well as free airtime and SMS.
According to Tony Ejinkonye, president of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Awards, the modality for selecting the ‘Most Innovative Business Idea’ was based on the number of new products and services rolled out by the organisation.
