APBN ‘Lagos Professionals’ Week’ to address challenges of business development in Nigeria
The Lagos Chapter of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), the umbrella body of over 27 registered professional bodies in Nigeria has said it will deploy resources at its disposal to address the various challenges bedevilling business development in Nigeria.
Lagos Professionals’ Week is an annual conference of the APBN Lagos chapter that started in 2016 with focus on knowledge exchange and capacity development of its members. The conference also provides an avenue for APBN to give back to the society through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
Wasiu Akewusola, Chairman, APBN, Lagos Chapter in a recent media briefing on the 2017 APBN Lagos Professionals’ Week held in Lagos said, the conference will provide fresh thinking through thoughtful leadership lecture, health and legal aids and career talks that encourages the youths to focus their education and unleash their potentials by becoming professionals.
According to him, the Lagos Professionals’ Week has engaged the academia, political leadership, corporate bodies, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs), professionals and NGOs, over the last two years. “The Lagos Professionals’ Week builds connection with ethics, education, industry, family and corporate social responsibility,” Wasiu said.
Lynda Onefeli, Chairperson, Planning Committee, Lagos Professionals’ Week in her address stated that the Lagos Professionals’ Week aims to establish APBN as the foremost association among stakeholders and position it at the forefront of professionals.
“This year, Lagos Professionals’ Week is bigger and bolder. Innovative programmes to kick-start the event include Legal and Health Clinic, in partnership with Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State on the Tuesday October 31,” she said.
The weeklong programme will feature Career Talks and Mentoring for students in pre-selected secondary schools in the six Education Districts of Lagos in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Lagos State on Wednesday November 2.
However, Foluso Phillips, Principal Consultant, Phillips Consulting Group and former Chairman, Nigerian Economic Summit Group is expected to deliver the thematic public lecture entitled ‘Solutions to Contemporary Business Development Challenges for Professionals’, at the LCCI Conference Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday November 2.
