Bunmi Oke, AAAN president
Bunmi Oke is wearing two caps. She is the managing director of 141 Worldwide, and the president of the 40-year-old Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN). Bunmi Oke is one of the few ladies in male dominated advertising industry that ranks among the best in the industry that has grown brands over the years.
Today, because of her zeal, subtlety of mind and determination, she has been able to wear the two caps successfully, having emerged as president of AAAN at the association’s 39th AGM in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, last year.
Bunmi Oke is an astute executive who does not believe in gender but performance. She sounds this out at every leadership forum. “I think that is what any profession should stand for. Your gender will only make you distinct and I’m sure many years ahead, more women will come out for things like this. It encourages more women aspire to serve at whatever cadre. It will do you a lot of good, and as a professional you will be respected by colleagues and clients,”she says in an interview she granted an online media.
As AAAN president, Oke who says she has a very supportive husband who encourages her in her drive and interest says in the interview that she “would like to continue the programmes already put in place by the last executive. We believe in continuity and do not forget, I was the vice president during the tenure that just ended. Therefore, it is only wise to consolidate on the many programmes already running. We will also support all reforms in the industry.
