Bunmi Oke optimistic on new tenure as AAAN president

Bunmi Oke, the returned president of Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) who is chief operating officer of 141 Worldwide, is highly optimistic that the new tenure will deliver good fortunes to all stakeholders in the advertising industry.

Oke who was returned as the association’s meeting in Ogun State recently promised to consolidate on what she has built in the past one year and encourage the advertising industry to be more professional and ethical in the business of marketing communication. She also urged practitioners and owners of agencies to contribute to the development of the advertising industry.

At the meeting which marked that association’s 40th year of existence, she encouraged the members on the need for continued creative excellence and contribution to the growth of Nigeria and global advertising and the economy at large. She stated that the gathering was “to take a bold step in shaping our profession which has made us all very noble people in our various communities.”

As experts in communications of ideas and values, she expected that all present would have clear and articulate ideas on how government can reach out and touch the hearts of the generality of Nigerians and so carry the populace along in its march towards true national development.

Governments all over the world have retained the services of professional marketing communication outfits to sell their policies. In the same vein, it is pertinent to acknowledge the role some AAAN member agencies played in the nation’s growth and development.

Agency role in national development goes beyond offering marketing communication services to the private sector. It extends to fully engendering proper understanding of government policies and revealing to the public ways by which they can participate, benefit and contribute to the growth of the economy, she said.
