CSR: Diamond Bank donates office complex to Nigerian army

In continuation of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Diamond Bank has donated a multimillion naira office block to the Nigerian army at Bonny Camp Lagos.

The ultra-modern bungalow office complex, comprising 10 office apartments, was commissioned by Kenneth Minimah, the chief of army staff, recently.

Handing over the building, Alex Otti, CEO of Diamond Bank, said the bank was delighted to assist the Nigeria army to perform well.

He recalled how the commanding officer of the division, Haruna Dasuki showed him a picture of a wooden building used as office space which moved him to respond positively in erecting the building.

The project, which he did not disclose the cost, according to him, is part of the bank’s CSR initiatives. “Now, having it in the military base is because I was shown a photograph of the building that existed here and I thought we should help.

“This building is now befitting of human occupation. This is my first time of coming inside Bonny Camp since my stay in Lagos. I recognise the hard work of the commanding officer, Haruna Dasuki in reaching out. If he did not come, we at Diamond Bank would not know his challenges,” he said.

In his response, the chief of army staff, who was also on familiarisation tour of army formations in Lagos, described the building as “a great donation and we enlist more of that by corporate bodies as part of their CSR and to relate well to the Nigeria army. This is an encouragement to us to perform better,” he said.
