CSR: Unilever partners foundation to strengthen bond with children

Unilever plc has partnered Lots Foundation, a body that caters for children on the street and takes care of children in Dustbin Estate, Ajegunle, to organise the season’s Children Fair in order to give the children a sense of belonging as well as celebrate them.

The essence of this party is not just to entertain the children but also to teach them simple hygiene, such as how to wash their hands, brush their teeth and test their abilities on how to spell words in English language.

Osita Obana, Unilever Foundation global ambassador, said the event will stick to the minds of the children for a long time since they were able to participate actively in some of the exercises they were given.

According to Obana, “we will continue to inculcate in people the benefits of hand washing, benefits of brushing the teeth, benefits of sanitation and good practices they can adopt in order to foster proper sanitation.”unilever-logo

He said that “Unilever is not just coming to have a party and go away, but to build a sustainable partnership and connect to the society, so that it can teach people healthy practices and look at other areas the company can support Lots Foundation in the brilliant job it is doing, thereby improving the quality of life in the community.”

To him, the community has lots of less privileged people and the environment is untidy, which obviously means that practices like hand washing will help people to improve the quality of their lives, as Unilever has a lot of activities we use to connect with the children. Every Global Hand Washing Day, we go on schools outreach to teach children the culture of hand washing, he said.
