Experts identify creative communication as key to tackling drug abuse
Experts in the Pharmaceutical industry have identified creative communication as key to tackling the increasing rate of drug abuse among the youths. They have therefore urged young professionals in the Marketing Communications industry who are competing in the Youth Pro Competitions West Africa to tackle cases of drug abuse among Nigerian youths in their creative designs.
Young Pro Competitions West Africa is a creative idea for young professionals in the Marketing Communication and Advertising across West Africa. This year, the competition is open to young professionals in the Digital, Design, Print, Film, Media and Creative Categories.
Every year, clients have opportunity to address the competitors in the Young Lion competition and by extension, the Young Pro Competitions West Africa.
Gbenga Olubowale, Chairman Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Lagos branch charged the participants to come up with creative communication solution to tackle drug abuse among young people in Nigeria and social other problems such as violence, rape, stress and other increasing criminal activities.
Nnamdi Ndu, Managing Director, Chini Productions, stressed the importance of using creative communication as tool for solving social problems. He stated that the competitions should not just be for the sake of competing, but must be a vehicle for channelling the talent and ingenuity of the competitors towards the good of society.
He also called for collaboration amongst media professionals, winning agencies and Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria to help disseminate the content that will be generated during the competition.
