MultiChoice promises to collaborate with BBN contestants’ on talent development

MultiChoice Nigeria, organiser of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija), a reality TV show, recently made a promise to collaborate with contestants to help grow and develop their talents beyond the reality TV show in to a tangible brand that fans can identify with.

The pledge was made by John Ugbe,CEO, MultiChoice Nigeria at the presentation of a brand new SUV and a cheque of N25 million to the winner of the BBNaija season 2, Efe Ejeba in Lagos.

John Ugbe said, BBNaija took Nigeria to the rest of the world by teaching the world Nigeria’s culture.

The reality TV show, BBNaija that lasted for 11 weeks, hosted 14 contestants in a house called the ‘BBNaija House’.

According to Ugbe, “It is important to celebrate being Nigerian, celebrate our culture. BBNaija is more than just entertainment, it is the biggest platform in Nigeria and have contributed to boosting Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the last few weeks, and we will continue to invest in talent development,” he said.

The show, considered to be one of the most followed reality TV shows on DSTV recorded over 26.7 million votes on the last week of airing according to the organiser.

Eyo Bassey, CEO Payporte, lead sponsor of BBNaija said, “We could not have gotten a better platform to push our brand. We have engaged 4 of the contestants at the moment, however, we have plans for all of them. We want to leave a new atmosphere to sponsorship in Nigeria,” he said.

According to Bassey, Payporte is committed 100 percent to funding the videos of the contestants who were part of the BBNaija season 2. 

Fela Ibidapo Obe, Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Heritage Bank, co-sponsor of BBNaija said, banking has gone beyond management of cash in to developing talents. According to him, the bank will help define the BBNaija platform with each of the contestants. “It is a privilege to be part of the experience,” he said.

“It is an amazing feeling that I went in to the house a normal guy, but now it’s a different story” Efe Ejeba, winner of the BBNaija season 2 said on how it feels to win the show.

Efe who was thrilled by the presentation could not hold back his joy as he told reporters, he will forever be grateful to the organisers of the BBNaija for giving him a platform and opportunity to develop his talent.

Bisola, first-runners up in her remarks said, BBNaija gave her a platform to be herself. According to her, not everything in life can be based on not having a university degree rather individuals should look inward to develop their talents and push themselves to succeed in life. “I was inspired by my family, they were my inspiration and kept pushing me forward, keep going while the show lasted”, she said.
