Multichoice targets more subscribers, slashes decoder price
Multichoice, the South African company that operates the DStv Satellite Television Service, has slashed the prices of the DStv decoder from N27,000 to N15,500 in an ongoing promo. The promotion will run from November to December 31, 2013.
It is expected that the promo will help many prospective subscribers of DStv buy the decoders and get access to all DStv benefits. Within the promo period, there might be rush in the sales and purchase of DSTV decoder due to the cut in price and in preparation for the World Cup in Brazil by football enthusiasts.
In addition to this, Multichoice plans to take 60 people to the World Cup in all expenses paid trip. Of the number, 40 winners will be subscribers and 20 will be the staff of Multichoice and members of the press. The more subscribers recharge, the greater the opportunity to qualify for the draw.
At a media parley, Martin Mamutu, head of marketing and sales, Multichoice Nigeria said two questions they always ask themselves in the organisation to enable them get ahead of their competitors are, ‘What do people spend their money on if they are not spending it on Dstv?’ and ‘What options do the consumers have in DStv compared to that of their competitors?’
“We have met with dealers and subscribers and we are encouraged on how Nigerians have responded to the promo so far. We promise that the quality service we have always delivered will not be reduced,” he added.
He said DStv explorer will be launched very soon, where subscribers can record 220 hours of content and a box office will soon be made available, to enable subscribers watch the latest movie for 24hours without pirating.
He also stated that in a bid to continue in their social responsibilities for the society, Multichoice has continued to install resource centres in underprivileged societies.
