Nestlé Nigeria breaks world record for longest breakfast cereal table

Nestlé, the leading nutrition, health and wellness company, has broken the world’s record for the longest breakfast cereal table.

A total of 1,700 people sat down to eat together the world’s largest cereal breakfast on November 30, 2013, at Cocoa Mall in Ibadan. The previous world record, held in Dubai, registered 1,354 participants.

Gerben Kamps, category business manager for MILO Crunchy Cereals in Nigeria, explaining the rationale for the initiative stated: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies have shown that people who skip breakfast miss out on many vital nutrients, which they are unlikely to make-up for during the rest of the day. With this event, we have informed over 2 million people in Ibadan about the need to eat breakfast.”

Beyond setting a new world record, over 5,500 bowls of the delicious nutritious MILO Crunchy Cereals were served, underscoring the nutritional benefits of eating breakfasts made from fibre-rich wholegrain with the full complements of vitamins and minerals as it is the case of MILO Crunchy.

“We know mornings are stressful, but a bowlful of Nestlé MILO Crunchy Cereals only takes seconds in preparation. So no more excuses: eat breakfast! Let’s break another record: Nigeria, the country with highest breakfast cereal consumption in Africa”, he added.

“In total, we placed over 30,000 smiles on kids’ faces through this event,” said Kamps. Aside the meals, 8 people were rewarded with a full year supply of MILO Crunchy Cereal, while 700 others won other great prizes.
