SERA plays up CSR, rewards companies, governors
In its continuous attempt to draw attention to corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a sign for future profitability and sustainability to institutions, TruContact Limited, an integrated marketing communications outfit and organiser of the annual CSR Awards in Nigeria (The SERAs) award, recently rewarded organisations and individuals for creating shared value in a manner that benefits the business enterprise as well as its various stakeholders.
At the event, the prized statuette for the most socially responsible company in Nigeria 2013, was won by Lafarge Cement in addition to the statuette for Design for Sustainability, which represented the SERAs 2013 thematic focus.
The theme of the SERAs 2013, focused attention on design and innovation for sustainability – “Shaping the Future Through Innovative Value Creation: Making a World of Difference.”
Adedeji Ademigbuji of National Mirror Newspaper emerged the winner of the Tunmise Adekunle Award for Sustainability Reporting. The winner received in addition to the statuette, an iPad donated by Fidelity Bank. Fidelity Bank took home the statuette for Youth-focused CSR.
BATN carted home two awards; the Ambassador Segun Olusola award for most outstanding CSR practitioner and Best Company in wealth and income generation.
Guaranty Trust Bank was recognised as the best company in Child–Focused CSR, while Domino Information went home with best company in the SME category.
Olam Nigeria also took home the Best Company in Agriculture and the best Company in Supply Chain Sustainability. Cornerstone Insurance emerged the best company in Partnerships for Development.
Nestle Nigeria won the best company in Environmental Sustainability.
