StarTimes offers consumers education, entertainment channels

One of the pay-TV companies in Nigeria, NTA-StarTV Network, popularly called StarTimes, is offering its subscriber base diverse content through an array of educative and entertaining channels carefully organised into different bouquets to choose from.

StarTimes viewing option caters to the young, the old, the sports lovers, the current affairs buff, the Nollywood lovers and of course the children.

For the entertainment and education of children from babies to toddlers up to teenagers, StarTimes offers the BabyTv, Kidsco, Nickelodeon, and NTAKnowledge stations.

These stations show programmes such as the captivating Spongebob Squarepants, the adventurous sing along Dora the Explorer and the field trip inspired Magic School Bus. It also offers spinoffs from animated movies like Kungfu Panda and Penguins of Madagascar and an adaptation of the Super NES video game; Super Mario among others. Also included is Icarly and Big time rush, which caters specifically to teenagers.

Characters and locations form an impression on children; the many programmes showing on the StarTimes platform parades rich and intriguing characters like Spongebob who lives in a Pineapple, Patrick the Star Fish, Sandy the Land Squirrel, Krabs, Squidward the Octopus, Dora, Boots the monkey, Cosmo, Wanda baby Poof and locations like “Bikini Bottom, Central Park Zoo and the Island of Madagascar.

Of significant importance is the Nigerian content on the kid programming options, these include the award winning Nnena and friends TV series on the indigenously owned WAP (Wale Adenuga Productions) TV. The yearly children’s day Nnena and friends event was sponsored by StarTimes. “We see this as an opportunity to reward the loyal viewers of this TV series,” said Rete Anetor, PR manager for StarTimes. NTA Knowledge shows programmes on Mathematics, English and other subject tutorials that help kids revise on what they are been taught in schools.
