StarTimes set to show more local content next year
StarTimes, one of Nigeria’s pay TV operators, has concluded arrangements to show more local content materials next year. This is part of its step towards reinforcing its vision in Nigeria, which is to make sure every home enjoys digital entertainment,
The pay TV, which boasts of a 1.5 million subscriber base has equally added more channels to its bouquets.
While promising more local content channels for Nigerians, Justin Zhang, general manager, StarTimes, Lagos listed the additional channels as Fox News, Bloomberg Business TV, Dove TV, Star Africa, Star 1, Star movies 1+2 and Star Chinese.
Similar to its last year’s Christmas bonanza and offer of Santa Claus gifts, Star Times this year has rolled out Christmas, Extra Goodies Promo. Under the 2013 promo which commenced on 18 November,2013 and will climax on January 31, 2014, the company will reward new and existing subscribers who buy a new decoder with one month unique bouquet of up to 80 channels or who buys a decoder for N5,900 with one month unique bouquet can get a Yagi antenna with 10 meter cable for N1,000 Anetor Irete told journalists while unveiling the promo.
He said: “In this Yuletide season we are also offering our subscribers new channels for their viewing pleasure. This great exciting new channel addition is the company’s devotion to satisfying and bringing affordable digital entertainment to every household in Nigeria.
“StarTimes’ mission is to ensure that every home in Nigeria enjoys affordable digital entertainment backed by the collaboration with NTA, a strategic partnership that will help Nigeria in actualising its 2015 transition deadline.”
Within the year, StarTimes organised anniversary splash to mark the third anniversary of the digital terrestrial television network provider in the country.
