Upbeat in Nigeria’s Ad industry as Quantumm Reflective enters market

South Korea-based global manufacturer of advertising reflective print materials, Quantumm Reflective Company Limited, is entering into the Nigerian market with objective to offer the outdoor advertising industry a reflective printing material that will not necessarily use additional light powered by generator for illumination.

Herbert Ademola Ajayi, chairman, Electricare, Quantumm Reflective’s local partner who was accompanied by visiting Tiger Taeil Kim, CEO of Quantumm Reflective, told BusinessDay in Lagos that with the introduction of the printing reflective sheet material the advertising industry will soon witness some earth-shaking changes, as reflective materials capable of providing endless eye-catching impact, both day and night for the outdoor segment, would soon hit the streets.

The company and its representative in Nigeria are planning to use Nigeria as a hub for the African market.

Ajayi said that his objective in the long run was to establish the third Quantumm Reflective factory in Nigeria modelled after the ones in South Korea and the US, saying “the impact this factory would have on our economy can best be imagined. Jobs would be created and foreign exchange will improve dramatically because the factory would serve the whole of Africa.”

It was seen that when light shines in the day or night on pictures printed on the material, which could be placed as billboards, as walldrapes or pasted on vehicles, it illuminates brightly as if there was light behind it.

Ajayi, who is the immediate past national president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), said although there were a few sub- standard outdoor reflective materials presently in the Nigerian market, such products cannot match the quality Quantumm Reflective was bringing into the market.

“The usage of these new products can only be limited by users’ imagination, there are varieties of ways they can be used. We have high quality reflective films that can easily be applied on vehicles, tall buildings and even curved surface using the heat gum and other wrapping tools. However, there are plans by Quantumm Reflective to bring in engineers who will train our agents and users across the country,” Ajayi said.

The technology used by Quatumm Reflective was first developed for road traffic purposes before it was recently expanded for use in areas of advertising and fashion. Presently, there is no manufacturing of reflective material anywhere in Africa.
