We are not out to witch-hunt anyone says OYSAA

Oyo State Signage and Advertising Agency (OYSAA) says the on-going sanitisation exercise across the State is not to witch-hunt any individual, group or corporate body but to restore aesthetic value to the environment.

Yinka Adepoju, director general said the agency major goal is to transform Oyo State outdoor space in such a way that it will attract investors particularly advertisers in addition to promoting economic activities of the state.

While stating that the move is in line with the restoration, transformation and repositioning policy of Governor Ajimobi led administration, he noted that the agency’s primary assignment is not limited to collection of taxes alone but also involves engendering of orderliness and strict adherence to maintenance culture.

He added that emphasis must be laid on the agency primary assignment which has to do with control and regulation.

According to him, the purpose of advertisement control system is to ensure that everybody involved in the display of outdoor advertising structures contributes positively to the appearance of an attractive and cared-for environment, stressing that all advertisements or messages affect the appearance of the building structure.

“Despite several warnings by the agency to billboard debtors to pay up their outstanding debt, many of them are yet to pay up”.

Adepoju further said that the agency will not hesitate to remove debtors’ billboards or signage especially those who are yet to settle their past debts. He however warned outdoor practitioners, individual sign owners, religious organisations, schools and corporate organisations, among others to fulfil their financial obligations to the agency.
