Dangote Sugar Refinery targets 1.5mtpa
Dangote Sugar Refinery has set a target of reaching 1.5 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) from its current 1.44mtpa, Graham Clark, managing director, has stated.
“We are pursuing a backward integration master plan with a target of producing a total of 1.5 million tons of sugar locally per annum. The subsidiary, Savannah Sugar Company Limited, Numan, Adamawa State, is focused on meeting this target,’’ he said, during a meeting at the Nigerian Stock Exchange last Tuesday.
According to him, the firm’s recent acquisition of $35 million farm machinery from Panafrican Equipment was in concord with the backward integration policy of the Federal Government and the National Sugar Development Council, stressing that the company was putting plans in place to ensure that shareholders had great returns.
He also said plans were underway to invest N180 billion in Kebbi, Kogi, Jigawa, and other Northern states.
