Enactus Nigeria announces 2015 entrepreneurship national competition

Enactus Nigeria has concluded plans to hold its 2015 entrepreneurship competition for institutions across the country.

The premium universities and polytechnics entrepreneurship challenge, which will take place on the 11th and 12th of August 2015, showcases Enactus’ positive contributions to communities in the country.

Themed ‘Enabling Progress’’, the competition will highlight the innovative and business solutions that Enactus students are deploying through community- based and educational projects to address real problems for real people throughout the country.

At this year’s national competition, student teams, representing over 40 tertiary institutions, will present their individual innovative projects and the quality of impact they are making to a distinguished panel of more than 60 business leaders who serve as judges.

The competition involves three stages after which the eventual winner of the Enactus Nigeria National Competition will be named ‘The Enactus Nigeria National Champion team 2015’ and will get the chance to represent Nigeria at the prestigious international competition, the Enactus World Cup 2015 holding in Johannesburg South Africa between 14 and 16 October, 2015. This Enactus 2015 National Competition Final round is sponsored by Sahara Group.

Also to be showcased as a special competition this year is the ‘Sahara Light Up Nigeria special challenge season II’. The 2015 Sahara Light Up Nigeria Challenge is structured to stretch the creativity of the Enactus teams to demonstrate their ingenuity and innovations in the development and implementation of energy (power) projects that can generate electricity to light up bulbs and power other everyday household utensils like electric fans, pressing iron, or  conserve (save) electricity for the future (subsequent) use.

Some of the very exciting projects to be showcased in the Sahara Challenge include innovations and technology that are designed to address the challenge of shortage of electrical power experienced in local communities across the country while leveraging the creative use of water and biodegradable waste to generate electricity for rural communities.

Participating teams in these series of activities will include: Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), , Babcock University, Baze University, Abuja, Bayero University Kano, Benue State University,  Ekiti State University, Enugu State University of Science & Technology, Federal Polytechnic Idah, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, among others.

Also, as part of the activities making the 2015 event, on the 11th  of August, 2015, five female leaders each from over 30 Enactus teams across the country will be engaged in a ‘Top to Future Women in Leadership Forum,’ targeted at bringing together successful female leaders to an atmosphere that encourages mentorship. The goal of the forum is to focus on providing answers to key questions on leadership using practical life examples. The ‘Top to Future Women in Leadership Forum’ is scheduled to hold on 11th August, 2015 at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.
