Epina to train youths on entrepreneurial skills in ceramic manufacturing business
Epina Technologies Limited is organising a training session on ceramics for the youths, as way of reducing unemployment in the country.
Speaking on the training which would be held between May 16th and 18th at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, FIIRO, Lagos, Patrick Oaikhinan, chief executive officer of the company, said the training would expose the participants to the rudiment of ceramics production as they would be able to set up their own businesses along its value chain at the end of the training.
Oaikhinan, who noted that ceramics was a sector which has been under-exploited in the country, said it became necessary to organise the training in the ceramics industry in order to develop the sector to its potential, develop local production and put end to importation of the goods into the country.
He said despite its wider application, ceramics seemed to get little attention of investors in the country due to lack of required skills of its production, adding that the would-be entrepreneurs needed little capital and small space to start production.
He further said there were varieties of things they could produce with ceramics at the back of their houses, including jewelries and home utensils .
“The use of ceramic materials across a variety of applications has grown exponentially in recent years. The widespread adoption of ceramic materials across a multitude of industries and applications, including transportation, communication, energy and manufacturing requires the supply chain to meet a plethora of end user requirements. In order to meet the growing production capacity required across disparate applications, the industry must drive innovation in manufacturing and nurture a skilled and knowledgeable workforce,” the CEO of Epina said.
“Epina Technologies Limited is offering unique three days practical training in ceramics – a virtual programme bringing together all the resources from industry and education to provide expert advice and training to help our attendees on their way to an exciting career.
Our trainers share their specialist knowledge and resources on raw materials processing to ensure that essential knowledge and skills are passed to future generations, enabling them to make significant contributions towards an ever more vibrant and forward-thinking industry,” he said.
The retired university ceramics engineering lecturer said it always baffled him seeing some of those he lectured about 16 years ago still looking for job.
According to him, with just few days training, the participants would be able to establish their own manufacturing business in ceramics and become employers of labour rather than seeking employments, appealing especially to the unemployed youths to attend the training.
