Founder of Paga is one of 2017 Africa’s Top Innovators

Tayo Oviosu of Paga has been listed alongside other distinguished leaders as 2017 Africa Innovators by Africa’s leading digital news outlet – Quartz Africa. Quartz Africa Innovators list features Africans who have been recognised for their groundbreaking work, thought-leading initiatives and creative approaches to problems.
On May 5, 2017, at the World Economic Forum in South Africa, the influence of innovation on African countries and the developmental progress were important topics discussed at such high-powered meeting.
At the meeting, Tayo was recognised for his innovation of Paga, Nigeria’s leading digital financial service company, and his championing role in digital financial services in Africa.
Along with Tayo, the list also recognised Yasmin Belo-Osagie and Afua Osei, founders, She Leads Africa; Temi Giwa-Tubosun of Life Bank; Joel Macharia of Abacus Kenya; Lilian Makoi, CEO, Edepoint Tanzania, and many more.
Tayo responded to Quartz Africa’s announcement by saying “Thanks for the recognition, I am deeply humbled. Well done to our amazing 200-person Paga team, investors, our consumers and wonderful agents. Our goal is to bring access to financial services to 30 million Nigerians by 2020.”
Tayo founded Paga in 2009 out of his frustration of carrying cash around, with a mission to deliver innovative and universal access to financial services for individuals and businesses across Africa.
Today, Paga has grown into a full-blown financial services solution with the aim to solve two problems – ease of payments and access to finance for the mass market.
