Germany to build Capacity of Abuja entrepreneurs
The German Industry of Commerce in Nigeria said it would build the capacity of members of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (ABUCCI) in the area of vocational training.
The Head of the German Delegation of Commerce in Nigeria, Michael Blank said this during a business meeting with officials of the ABUCCI in Abuja on Monday.
He said it was important for Nigeria and Germany to strengthen their ties in the area of vocational training, given their status as the biggest economies in Africa and Europe.
Blank said it was also important for Nigeria to diversify its economy through other viable sectors.
He said the total dependent on oil was not in the in the best interest of Nigeria, given the enormous economic potentials inherent in the country.
Blank explained that Nigerian’s quest to actualise its dream of diversifying its economy would only be possible on the platform of education and vocational skills development.
“Nigeria has a strong economy but, however, your economy is only very much dependent on oil. But you should look ahead by trying to diversify your economy. And in diversifying your economy, you need skills; you need education; you need expertise; you need knowledge; you need technology, all this comes with people,” Blank said.
He noted that the partnership with ABUCCI in the area of vocational training would accelerate economic opportunities for Nigerians and also attract German investors into the country.
“Every country’s most precious value is its people; educating people is the best way forward for any country. Educating people means training them and Germany is looking to Nigeria in that aspect of bilateral relation.”
According to him, the envisaged vocational training will enhance higher productivity for members of ABUCCI.
