Life is full of surprises

A friend sent me this song, “Conqueror” by Estelle & Jussie Smollet from the TV series, “Empire”. He had listened to the song and thought to send it to me as it reminded him of me. I was surprised as this came from unexpected quarters. So, I downloaded and read the lyrics of the song

Some days you might find yourself on top of the world. Other days, well let’s just say, it could have been better. My mother made a profound statement to me while I visited her in the UK. She said, “Munchis, the world is waiting to hear your story! Your life will heal and help many, only if you will accept and speak.” As mothers usually are, she was right!

Life is full of curves.

The road is never straight. When it is too smooth, that is when I worry most! I know for a fact that life is not that simple. You see, we are defined by our experiences and choices. Whether we choose the right path or the wrong one is entirely up to us. But no matter the path we choose, we should never accept defeat. Get up, dust yourself up and get back on track. Life’s curves will keep coming. It is your resolve and resilience that will see you through.

Life is beautiful.

Looking at the faces of my daughters, I am reminded everyday of the richness and beauty of life. No matter how ugly or hopeless you think your situation is, I want you to know that you are a conqueror! You MUST not accept defeat.  Your time will come. In the words of Estelle & Jussie Smollet, “Remember there is a war out there, so, you better come prepared.”

Keep moving. Slowly but surely, your time will come. Do not let your mistakes define your final destination. Keep your eyes firmly on the price you have chosen for your life.
