Olive Ogbusu, small-scale baker, wins N1m at Uncut Learning

At the recently concluded Uncut Learning, which is a baking seminar and conference, small-scale baker Olive Chimdiya Ogbusu from Owerri, Imo State, won N1 million worth of baking equipment.
Uncut Learning is the brainchild of Ezinne Okonkwo, CEO of Dewdrops Cakes, where bakers converge to support one of their own.
The event started a few months ago on Instagram as an online competition targeted at setting up one baker with a prize award of the equivalent of N1 million.
A total of 34 successful online entries were recorded and the contestants were screened down, first to 10 semi-finalists and then to five finalists.
A host of baking vendors including Dainty Affairs, Valido, Rostaar Chocolate and more were on hand at the event to engage with the community of bakers.
After the opening remark by Ezinne Okonkwo, the event went into full swing beginning with baking sessions from Tarela Okene. The event proceeded with more baking sessions from Terry Adido, Lizzie Okon of Lizzie Cakes N Crafts and Ify Elsie Ben-Okorie to a branding talk from Chizor Malize and a talk on building an effective team from HR guru Odike Omone of Gr8jobsng.
Siku Adewiyi, CEO of Cake N Candy Confectionary and mentor to the event host, shared a wealth of knowledge on the persistence and values it takes to build a successful business in the baking industry.
Bidemi Anslem-Bidokwu of Cakes et Al went on to lead one of the most engaging sessions. CEO of Dainty Affairs Lolade Ogunjimi brought a floral touch to her cake decoration session before Mastechef Alumn, Terry Adido took the stage for the second time to round off the baking sessions.
Finally, it was time to for the finalists to give their speeches and then CEO of Cake N Candy Confectionary Siku Adewuyi was called upon for the draw selection. After intense anticipation, a winner was announced. Olive Chimdiya Ogbusu from Owerri in Imo state was the baker to walk away with the amazing prize.
