Opportunity beckons on fashion entrepreneurs in November
More than 4000 informal and formal retailers are set to attend this year’s Home Décor and Giftware Nigeria Expo, which promises to attract over 100 international and local suppliers and distributors of homeware, fashion, body-care, homecare, household electrical & electronics, furnishing, interior décor, textile, crafts and gift items.
This will help local entrepreneurs as international companies from South Africa, Turkey, China and India will be attending.
The event is being organised by the Retail Council Nigeria (RCN), the National Association of Market Women and Men of Nigeria (Informal retailers association), government agencies, in association with Clarion Events West Africa.
The expo holds from 14 to16 November at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to Solomon Kayode Onofowokan, president of Retail Council of Nigeria,“the formal retail market has witnessed unprecedented growth in recent years largely owing to the injection of international brands from China, India, Italy and UK into the Nigerian market. RCN Mmbers are eager to make new connections with international manufacturers and network with stakeholders from both the formal and informal market”.
According to Bunmi Aliyu, event manager, Home Décor and Giftware Nigeria Expo, Clarion Events West Africa, “This first of its kind event will give opportunity for manufacturers of home-ware, household products, consumer electronics and Kitchenware to engage directly with contract buyers, distributors and retailers who are looking to place bulk orders, as well as give export opportunities via B2B matching with over 4000 registered high value buyers across West Africa.”
The fashion business in Nigeria has experienced remarkable growth, currently enjoying international exposure and acceptance which provide great prospects for business opportunities in Nigeria. Many fashion houses from Nigeria currently participate and excel in a number of fashion events organised within the country and internationally, featuring bespoke fashion brands and accessories.
New trends in retail fashion are developing with increase in diverse brands available within the formal and informal market. The ever-evolving fashion trends have influenced the appealing nature of the business. Fashion in Nigeria has become a major phenomenon, diverse in nature, reflecting budding participants who operate within the industry and contribute to its rapid growth.
