Women will take over more businesses by 2017 – NNEW

Expectations are high that by 2017, more women will take over businesses in Nigeria. This affirmation was made by Lola Okanlawon, president of NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW), a women’s business network established under the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association in Lagos.

Okanlawon, who is the chief executive of Afrotec Industries, an aluminium manufacturing business, having been a leader of women entrepreneurs for some years, confidently affirmed that Nigerian women were naturally enterprising and had the capacity to establish large business ventures.

Okanlawon said: “Nigerian women are naturally enterprising and with credit facilities being put in place, they can take over large business ventures in the country in the next five years. Gone are the days when women spend business funds on clothes, they are wiser now.”
