Youths receive sensitisation on entrepreneurship

Youths have been urged to become entrepreneurs rather than job seekers as that is the only way to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country.

The call was made at the one-day entrepreneurship grooming and mentoring session organised by Macro Perfection Limited to encourage youths to be entrepreneurial.

Chibuike Aguene, director, StartupHUB Nigeria in his remarks encouraged youths present at the event to utilise their talents effectively to create jobs for others. He explained that America recovered from their recession because they started building businesses that employed others rather than looking for non-existence jobs.

According to him, ideas grow the world and jobs exist because somebody established an organisation.

“To be an entrepreneur involves spotting an opportunity you have the means to meet, spotting a gap causing dissatisfaction in the society and thinking of what to do, having an idea, building a capacity to create value and finally one must have the capacity to be patient and must defer gratification”, he said.

Tola Sunmonu, Business Development Officer, Doreos Partners encouraged youths to focus on acquiring agric management education which is vital to improving agriculture as a business in Nigeria. She also said that agriculture has the capacity of employing millions of youths in Nigeria and agriusiness is a good business opportunity for youths in Nigeria.
