Estate surveyors tasked on professional diligence, integrity
Estate surveyors and valuers, who pride themselves as king of professionals in the built environment, have been tasked on the need for diligence, integrity and devotion in the course of their professional duties.
These values, according to Fola Aboaba, a professor of Agricultural Engineering, who gave the task, were necessary especially in the professionals’ relationship with their clients, stressing that there was need for integrity for professionals who want to get to the top.
Aboaba who was the guest speaker at the 11th Annual Award Night organized by the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) recently, noted that the way to the top was never smooth, explaining that there were always landmines and hiccups all the way.
“It is only God who will lead you safely and, at this point, integrity is very important. It is possible for a man to start poorly and end excellently well and in this circumstance, professional integrity must have played a key role coupled with devotion and diligence”, the professor asserted.
He pointed out that there are hiccups on the way to the top and this, he said, could be caused by lack of focus on the part of many who might have started very well, but lose focus and everything goes bad.
“Don’t shift your gaze from the goal and lose the medal; some people lose focus either by chasing too many things at the same time or by falling prey to the enemies who are within and without”, he said.
The this year’s edition of the Honours Night was spectacular with the emergence of many individual and corporate awardees including Bolarinde Joshua Patunola-Ajayi, the principal partner, J.
