FCTA in multi-billion naira projects to boost infrastructure

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is perfecting plans to commission multi-billion-naira projects completed within the territory with water treatment plant, flyover bridges leading the pack.

Bala Mohammed, the FCT minister, who disclosed this in Abuja recently, listed some of the completed projects billed for commissioning to include phases III and IV water treatment plants with combined capacity of 20,000m3 per hour at the Lower Usuma Dam, and the construction work on the Lower Usuma Dam-Gurara Dam road project. Others include a flyover bridge alongside channelisation works at the Mogadishu Cantonment/Sunrise Hills Estate.

According to him, the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway (Airport Road) Lot II from the Abuja City Gate to Lugbe, and Murtala Mohammed Expressway (Kubwa Road) Lot II from Villa Roundabout to Civil Service Institute, which are undergoing rehabilitation and expansion, are also being prepared for commissioning.

The FCT minister further mentioned the provision of complementary engineering infrastructure facilities to the Federal Capital City (Interchange at Arterial Road N5/Ring Road II Junction) as another gigantic project for commissioning, while also assuring that his administration would soon roll out the final engineering designs of all outstanding districts in phases II & III that are at various stages of completion.

He remarked that final engineering designs of the eight districts under the Land Swap Scheme were in progress with two of the developers – Urban Shelter and Ridley Group – having completed design, checked and approved, and were ready for groundbreaking.
