IL Bagno reconstructs toilet facility at less privileged’s homes
Concerned about the plight of children without mothers whose comfort and noursishment come from public-spirited individuals and organizations, IL Bagno, the regional distributor for the world’s leading manufacturers of bathroom fittings, has embarked on renovation, reconstruction and donation of toilet facilities to orphanage homes where this class of children reside.
Recently, the company which excels in the provision of total bathroom solutions for both domestic and commercial markets, handed over renovated toilet facility to the management of the Red Cross Society of Nigeria Motherless Babies Home in Yaba, Lagos.
In her remarks at the brief handing over ceremony, Oyinlola Majekodunmi, Il Bagno’s Head, Retail Sales, explained that what they have done, apart from identifying with the less privileged in society, was also part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
“We will be renovating 10 orphanage homes before the end of this years as part of activities marking our 10th year anniversary. We thank your management for accepting our offer, because some organizations reject our offer to renovate their toilets. We urge you to properly maintain the facility so that it will last and serve its purpose”, she said.
Responding, Molara Ehindero and Daniel Umoh, Chairman, Sub-Committee and Programme Officer of the Red Cross School respectively, enthused that the renovated facility could compare with those at international airports, thanking the company for its kind gesture.
The toilet, they noted, is always the first port of call for sanitary inspectors, hence the importance the school attaches to the facility, and prayed God for the company to grow as a business beyond the imagination of its owners and promoters.
In an interview with BusinessDay at the event, Smart Akusebo, the company’s Financial Controller, stressed that their target was to renovate or construct toilet facilities in 10 orphanages, pointing out that emphasis was not on the number 10 because they could do more than 10 toilets all in 10 orphanages.
“Our choice of orphanages is quite clear because these are members of our society that are in need of people’s assistance. Government is not funding them and so, it is individuals and organizations like us that will always come to their aid. Last year we focused on public schools and this year, we are focusing on orphanages because during our 10th anniversary, we want to give back to the society”, he said.
