Investment opportunity opens as Delta builds Warri Industrial Business Park

In line with its vision to strategically position Delta State as the new economic hub for investment opportunities in the South-South region and also diversify the state’s economy from its strict dependence on oil and gas, the state government has promised to deliver the Phase 1A of the Warri Industrial Business Park (WIBP) by the first quarter of 2015.

The Phase 1A of WIBP consists of an administrative block, a 7-storey world-class facility expected to deliver over 10,000 sq. metres of office space through public-private partnership.

Work has commenced at site with Palmyra Construction expected to deliver the iconic administrative building by 2015, while Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) has also commenced the construction of 11.9 km of access road network within the park, said Helen Emore, the project director.

According to the project plan, the park, which boasts of a large landmass of 300 hectares legally acquired by the state government from indigenes, has been carefully marked for onward development.

Some of the allotted spaces include about 7 hectares marked for commercial hotel, about 6 hectares designed for commercial retail, almost 3 hectares designed for recreational use, 26.47 hectares allocated for commercial office purpose, 20.17 hectares for residential use, and over 20 hectares for the green area.

Other areas include over 45 hectares marked for oil and gas use, and the manufacturing area which will cover about 76.34 hectares of the park’s total area.

Situated in Edjeba, Warri, Delta State, the park is 5km away from the Warri International Airport, 12km drive from the Warri Seaport, 133km from the state capital, Asaba, and 10km from a national highway. The project also has an immediate access to major highways to Warri Port, Osubi Airport, and highway linkages to Benin, Ughelli, Asaba and Port Harcourt.

“The park has been strategically located with a link to national road, rail networks and all necessary amenities expected to boost business development,” the project director added.

On delivery, the well-designed eco-friendly park will host a cluster of heavy industries, warehouses, office complexes, commercial retail outlets, hotel, high-end residential apartments, light industries, factories, and recreational developments, amongst others.

Amenities expected at the park on delivery include uninterrupted power supply directly from the grid, 100 percent uptime on power with a 110KV substation, (tamper) cable and satellite links, efficient storm and water drainage system, and onsite gas supply.

Other facilities include logistics centre, medical centre, gymnasium, banks, insurance houses, post offices, shopping malls, club house, bus station, etc.
