Keynes, Best Western in partnership for N2.5bn hotel facility in Osun
The growth in the hospitality industry is spreading across city centres and in Oshogbo, the Osun State capital, a partnership between Keynes Private Equity and Best Western Hotel holds promise for a 4-star hotel facility that will, in the next 18 months, deliver 105 luxury rooms to the market.
According to the promoters of this facility, upon delivery the new facility will not only redefine the hospitality business in the serene state, it will also fill the void currently existing in the state’s hospitality subsector.
Sitting on a large landmass of about three hectares, Best Western Hotel Oshogbo will have as its close neighbours the state secretariat, the state headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and just behind the hotel will be a new airport soon to be developed by the state.
Facilities expected at the hotel include: 105 exotic rooms, a modern conference hall, ample parking space, a swimming pool, a world-class gulf course, amongst others.
Lanre Bakare, the project coordinator, said in an interview that on delivery, the hotel would go a long way to boost the state government’s economic transformation agenda, adding that the hotel would attract tourists with positive multiplier effects on the state’s revenue.
Explaining the rationale behind such a huge investment, Bakare said, “There is an obvious shortfall in the supply of luxurious hotel in the state and that has informed our decision to commit such huge investment into such project,” adding that the hotel is in a prime location at the heart of the city centre, which gives them an edge to provide guests to the state a new experience in luxury lodging.
“At the building stage, the project would also impact positively on the citizens through engagement of youths, skilled and unskilled,” he said.
Bakare further said on completion, a large chunk of staff and personnel to ensure smooth operation of business would be indigenes, which in turn would fortify human capacity development in the region.
He commended the governor for providing a thriving platform for the private sector to play a significant role in exploring the enormous investment opportunity that exists in the state, noting that if the tempo was sustained, the state would soon be the industrial hub of the South-West region.
