Lafarge, CCECC partner on safety practices in construction industry
Lafarge Africa Plc, Nigeria’s leading building solutions provider, has partnered with a leading construction company in Nigeria, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) on a safety awareness programme for over a hundred CCECC employees.
A statement obtained by BusnessDay and signed by Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, a director at Lafarge, explains that the partnership is aimed at improving safety standards and practices in one of the largest construction companies in Nigeria. Engineers, nurses and safety officers of CCECC from across its project sites in Nigeria also attended the training awareness programme.

On his part, Liao Jian Feng, executive director at CCECC, said “we are happy to partner with Lafarge on this initiative. CCECC will continue to promote and adopt a safety environment standard by its employees and sub-contractors.”
During the training programme, engineers, technicians and other operational employees were trained on the risks related to their construction work while health workers and nurses were trained on how to prepare for, and respond to emergencies. There were also sessions on the best onsite safety practices such as deployment of safety signages as well as procedures for reporting and responding to incidents.
