Lagos promises to elevate ERCAAN
Lagos State government has promised to elevate Estate, Rent and Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN), Oriade chapter, revealing that plans were on to educate its members to enable them to understand the best approach to landlords and tenants.
Kassim Adeshina, head, Education Department of ERCAAN, Lagos State chapter, who gave this hint at their fifth annual general meeting (AGM), explained that the education of the members would also involve intensive training which some members have already started.
In the same vein, Michael Adeogun, the founder of ERCAAN, explained to BusinessDay that their members needed to know the laws that guide landlords and tenants to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
Adeogun said that members had started registering for the training after which certificate of merit would be awarded to them, adding that this would help them to distinguish quacks from genuine agents as some people who claim to be agents but were just fraudsters.
Godwin Ehimze, the caretaker committee chairman, disclosed that the driving force of their innovation and achievements so far was the chapter’s readiness to embrace standards and best practices.
“We have seen growth and strength in our membership; our finance base has been boosted which enabled us buy plastic chairs among other achievements since we assumed office”, he said.
Turner Uwa, general secretary, urged members to update their knowledge to conform with global trends in the profession while Alice Baba, the treasurer, noted that male members have been supporting.
