Lagos seeks community support for project execution
Lagos State government has appealed to communities where projects are being undertaken to support its efforts at timely delivery of the projects.
Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the state commissioner for works and infrastructure, made this appeal while handing over boreholes to the communities and buildings to the residents whose houses were affected by an ongoing road construction in the Ejirin and Epe communities.
Hamzat, who was represented by the permanent secretary, Office of Infrastructure, Naheem Sahid, noted that such support entailed prompt removal of encumbrances that usually delay delivery of projects planned by government.
“This is just a token of what the state government intends to do to transform Ejirin and the entire Epe district to a tourist destination of choice,” the commissioner said, noting further that it was the intention of the present administration to revive the economic vibrancy and reposition Ejirin as a commercial and shipping hub.
Hamzat thanked the traditional ruler of the town and the indigenes and residents for co-operating with the state government to develop the community.
He stressed that Comprehensive Consortium Limited, the contractor handling the construction of Balogun/Amodu/Alhaji Dodoyowa road network linking the town with Epe and Ikorodu, had achieved meaningful progress, hoping that the road would be delivered before the end of this year.
Responding, the Elejirin of Ejirinland, Oba Babatunde Balogun, expressed gratitude to the Babatunde Fashola administration, saying that the entire Ejirin residents appreciated the good gestures of the state government in bringing development to the town.
He also urged other people affected by such removal to keep faith with the state government as it strives to fulfil its promise of compensating those whose properties were affected by the road construction .
The beneficiaries who were compensated with new houses were the late Elejinrin of Ejirinland, Oba Sadiku Ogunbanjo and Sikiru Ayinde whose family houses were demolished to pave way for road construction.
