New panel plant, partnerships position Vitapur as unique solution to housing deficit
Vitapur Nigeria Limited, one of Nigeria’s frontline manufacturers of polyurethane prefabricated buildings, has positioned itself as a unique solution to the country’s housing deficit with the acquisition of a state-of- the- art sandwich panel plant which has increased its capacity utilization by 300 percent.
The company’s technical partnership with Resichem of South Africa and Duna Discontinuous Plant of Italy has also put its operations on the global map, hence its advice to the federal and state governments as well as real estate operators to leverage its high quality products to achieve the vision of housing for all through mass housing which the Vitapur product promotes.
Vitapur, a subsidiary of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, is reputed for its dry construction devoid of blocks and uses composite panel to build external and internal walls, ceiling and many other applications.
Akin Oladiran, the company’s acting managing director, explained that the new building structure enhances comfortable indoor temperature, thereby enhancing the living and working environment of the occupants and also helping to keep energy consumption low.
Oladiran who spoke at the 15th edition of Archbuilt—an Annual Exhibition of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA) in Abuja at the weekend, noted that given the enabling environment, dry construction process would go a long way in reducing housing shortfall in Nigeria.
“Such enabling environment include available policy on land, housing, finance, affordable building materials, appropriate institutional framework and sustainable construction workforce. Government should create a platform for long and short term fund for real estate and establish infrastructure development bank”, he posited.
Vitapur’s technical adviser, Sarel Nel, explained that their prefabricated buildings were cost effective, flexible, and ensure site safety and waste reduction.
Ladipo Lewis, chairman, Lagos chapter of the NIA, commended Vitapur for the initiative of dry construction and urged existing and potential house owners to patronize the company’s products. He noted that the company’s newly acquired machine had reinforced its adherence to global best practices.
Vitapur, which co-sponsored the 2015 Archibuilt Exhibition in Abuja is a subsidiary of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. The insulation manufacturing company specializes in manufacturing of Polyurethane Rigid foam products. Among the company’s top products are prefabricated structures using dry construction, sandwich panels, insulation board, chemical system, spray foam and pre-cut pipe sections.
