NIESV commits to capacity building, admits 242 associates
The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV )says it is committed to providing continuous capacity building programmes and maintenance of highest possible qualification standards in order to improve services offered to the public by its members, adding that this remains one of the cardinal objectives of its present National Council led by Emeka Eleh.
As the institution gears up for another annual induction ceremony to admit 242 members who have qualified for its Associate Membership, Victor Ayeye, the Honorary National Publicity Secretary, said that NIESV has ensured that all persons admitted to Associate Member status of the institution passed through stringent admission processes that includes sitting for examination, submission of written thesis, defense of the thesis and appearance for screening before the Membership Committee headed by Olorogun James Omeru, a fellow of the institution.
“Our President, Emeka Eleh and members of the National Council have always ensured a generous number of capacity-building exercises and come this December 4, there will be the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD), a program designed to bring members up to date with realities and trends in estate surveying and valuing. The events will hold at the Golden Hall of the New Chelsea Hotel in Abuja.
Ayeye, who is the Chairman of the Induction Planning Committee further disclosed that B T Aluko, the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife will be delivering the induction seminar on “Estate Surveying and Valuation Profession: Unbundling Latent Competences and Developing New Frontiers”.
Speaking on the essence of the seminar, Ayeye also explained that, “It is our practice, to always organize a pre-induction seminar to acculturate the new members and continue from the start to enrich their faculty. This is why we are having the erudite Professor Aluko to deliver the induction seminar”.
“The induction will be preceded on December 4 by the MCPD, a program in the annual calendar of NIESV to bring member up to date with realities and trends in estate surveying and valuing.
“The MCPD is mandatory for all members and has been designed to update us with contemporary global trends and international best practices in the profession. The topic is Expanding Market Horizon for Estate Surveyors and Valuers for Greater Performance and Impact”, Ayeye stated.
