Rainbow Town: Renewed lifestyle community for living, working, leisure
In a dual mission to conform with the emerging market trend where real estate developers deliver a one-stop-convenient address where homeowners can reside, work and play in an enclosed community and also tenaciously pursue its urban renewal agenda, the Rivers State government through the Rainbow Town Development Limited (RTDL) is set to upscale the oil rich South-South state with a new mixed-use lifestyle community otherwise known as Rainbow town.
The town which was previously developed as a low-medium income housing estate by the Eastern Nigeria Housing Development Corporation in 1964 had been transformed as periodic exigencies, dynamic demography and urban growth surged, resulting in a high-density community easily associated with degeneration, security breaches and blight.
However, in its resolve to regenerate the old Rainbow town and also provide its savvy middle class a premium mixed-use community that re-images the Rockefeller Centre in New York and Canary Wharf in London, the Rivers State government in partnership with First Bank of Nigeria, incorporated the RTDL as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) champion this urban rebirth.
The town which approximately measures 23.24 hectares is strategically located in the bustling Trans-Amadi business industrial corridor of Port Harcourt and is only 15 minutes drive to both the Airport and the Government Residential Area (GRA).
Branded by its promoters as Africa’s biggest integrated luxury residential community, the town will on delivery berth 1,181 upscale residential housing choices creatively distributed into 468 apartments in its nine units of 15 storey tower as known as the Point block towers, while a total of 640 apartments will be delivered in its City block towers comprising of 16 units of 12 storey towers.
The town will also boast of 13 units of five bedroom standalone duplexes and 60 units of four bedroom terraces.
In addition, its15 floor Iconic tower will host the commercial hub of offices, convention centre, movie theatres, shops, restaurants, Short-stay inn and a helipad.
Other complimentary facilities expected at the town include an elementary school, 70-bed medical centre, shopping arcade, club house, police post, parks, landscaping, social and cultural centre and recreational amenities such as lawn tennis and general swimming pools.
The town will be serviced from the Eco-centre; a nerve centre for the Independent Power scheme, water and sewer plants, garbage pick up and disposal, street maintenance, broadband wireless interconnectivity, telephone and data outlets and security surveillance.
Its promoters also say that as part of its value added service, a strategic partnership has been formed with the state security service as well as other renowned security outfits to provide a detail security presence at the lifestyle community, adding that the provision of an electrified perimeter fencing and remote surveillance technology reaffirms its commitment to provide a round the clock onsite security for residents.
On the availability of financing options for intending homebuyers, its marketing team which includes Bode Adediji Partnership revealed that there are dedicated mortgage facilities from First Bank and Diamond Bank for outright sale of the high rise condos, terrace and detached homes at attractive interest rates.
