Structon berths, targets affordable apartments

In a move to establish a dedicated construction firm to oversee the construction of its real estate developments, build affordable and luxurious apartments for developers, International Property Development Consortium (IPDC); a real estate investment and management firm has officially unveiled Structon; an engineering, procurement and construction company.

The new firm which also aims to explore the immense opportunities in the country’s construction sector by constructing high scale infrastructures for the government and other willing developers will also provide other essential services such as; initial feasibility studies, detailed engineering, overall construction management, actual construction and operational management of project facilities on budget and to specification.

As a modern construction company, the firm promises to distinguish itself from its contemporaries with the construction of simple conceptualized residential, commercial and infrastructural structures.

“Structon was established out of the need to have a dedicated construction firm which will build our residential apartments and equally offer the same unparalleled expertise to willing clients,” Weyinmi Edodo, CEO, IPDC told BusinessDay in a brief chat at the company’s official launch recently held in Lagos.

“Part of our investment into this industry is also to give a platform to young engineers which we recruit and train over a certain period of time, the same applies to artisans who we see as a vital part of our growing process, we train and provide them with the right and effective tools to ease their job, Edodo further stated.

“One of our major initiatives is to provide affordable housing; we have discovered that construction is not the issue in terms of low homeownership but rather financing, we aim to address that because we have discovered the right pricing mechanism which we will develop for our clients,” Kareem Okereke, CEO, Structon said, adding that the firm will also remain visible in luxurious segment of the market.

On the firm’s current projects, Okereke noted that the firm is currently constructing the TBNW terraces, Pine Court; a 33 units of luxury fully serviced apartments, Emery Place apartments amongst others.“We will also build infrastructure,” he further added.
